09 April 2024 - UNN 5th Ramadhan Charity Drive (RCD) began with the distribution of care packages to disadvantaged families in Menunggol on 30 March 2024, and continued across Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Belait districts on 31 March 2024, 06 April 2024, and 07 April 2024.
This year’s RCD presented the first collaboration between Unified National Networks (UNN) with Majlis Kesejahteraan Masyarakat (MKM) or Brunei Council on Social Welfare, a local non-government organization that is passionate in helping vulnerable and underprivileged groups in Brunei and aboard. Previous UNN RCDs saw collaborations with Society for Community Outreach & Training (SCOT), Dana Pengiran Muda Makhota Al-Muhtadee Billah for Orphans (DANA) charity foundation, and Foodlife.
UNN RCD is an initiative formed under the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program to provide monetary and in-kind assistance to local communities in need. RCD was also established to provide UNN employees with an avenue to engage in social activities that promote and improve overall well-being.
A total of 100 volunteers from UNN, joined by MKM president Mohamed Yusof Shaik Abdul Halim, MKM former president Datin Paduka Hajah Intan binti Haji Mohd Kassim, MKM Vice President Hajah Johana binti Haji Jaya and MKM office-bearers participated in the packing and distributing over B$7,000.00 worth of UNN care packages (including in-kind donations from UNN employees) to 100 disadvantaged families during the last two weekends of Ramadhan this year. It is hoped that the care packages and in-kind donations from UNN would help ease the financial burden of these families as they prepare for the last few days of Ramadhan and upcoming Hari Raya Aidil Fitri.
