03 February 2024 - Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), the leading national technology university and Unified National Networks (UNN), the national ICT infrastructure enabler, are proud to announce the first collaboration on introducing Holographic Education Proof-of-Concept (Holo-Ed PoC). This collaboration aims to revolutionise the education landscape by introducing an immersive and engaging learning experience through cutting-edge holographic technology powered by ARHT Media.
This collaboration was inked through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange at the Higher Education Expo, held at Bridex International Conference Centre on Saturday, 03 February 2024. Present for the MoU exchange were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Mulia Datin Paduka Professor Dr Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Dr Steffen Oehler Chief Executive Officer and Woo Chang Huei Vice President of Digital Innovation from UNN.
This innovative collaboration harnesses the strengths of UNN as a digital enabler through its connectivity and IT infrastructure for emerging technology and UTB’s expertise in technology education to create a transformative learning platform. The key focus areas for this PoC include:
- Immersive Learning Environments: Impactful experience through a realistic virtual “in-person” presence conducting lectures or storytelling for a more personalised experience.
- Cross-border Lecture Exchanges: Enables academic exchanges with partner education institutions overseas with ease through live beams, reducing the physical distance, travel and admin costs while increasing sustainability.
- Creative Content Creation: Encourages lecturers and students alike to explore and hone their skills in a safe, controlled environment while generating unique 3D content.
The Holo-Ed PoC will run from February 2024 on UTB’s campus for five (5) months to test its feasibility in the Bruneian education landscape. UTB and UNN are excited to embark on this innovative journey together to provide the students with a unique and enriching experience. They are eager to see how this can potentially impact the future of learning.
