Monday, 28 July 2025 - The Belia Pintar Siber youth digital literacy programme has embarked on its second cycle, continuing the successful momentum of its pilot phase with an expanded year-long initiative. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held today at UNN Signal in Berakas, officiating the continued collaboration between Unified National Networks Sdn. Bhd. (UNN) as the Programme Sponsor, Kristal Media as Media Partner, and Big BWN Project as Project Organiser.
The initial pilot programme which ran from October 2024 to May 2025 achieved remarkable success by engaging 1,088 students across 11 schools nationwide. The programme focused on equipping students with core digital skills and awareness, including online safety, cyberbullying, digital ethics, and identifying misinformation, fostering responsible digital citizenship in an increasingly interconnected world.
Belia Pintar Siber is strategically aligned with Brunei Darussalam’s national aspirations under Wawasan 2035 and actively supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Ministry of Education’s emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Environment, and Mathematics) education through the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre. This comprehensive alignment highlights the programme's pivotal role in preparing the next generation for a digitally proficient future.
Marking the occasion at the MoU signing ceremony were key representatives from UNN, Acting Chief Executive Officer Chris Phan, alongside Chief Financial Officer Kelly Ngo, Kristal Media Assistant General Manager Mas-Sunarita Mohd Shariff representing Kristal Media, whilst Big BWN Project Lead and Founder Noor Hafizah Rashid signed on behalf of the Big BWN Project. The second cycle of the programme is set to commence in August 2025 and will continue through mid-2026 with ten workshop sessions planned across selected primary, secondary, and sixth-form schools throughout Brunei.
